Difficult Place To Decorate

entertainc2_20130325Maybe I just have cabin fever, but I’m just not sure what it is. I’ve struggled with this entertainment center for a long time. Each time, I try to improve what was done the last…well, there simply seemed no immediate answer. It sat looking mostly bare like this photo.
Oh, I take that back about no answer…it was fairly easy on the end pieces of the 3 sections. That top was what the struggle was about. In the following photos you will see mostly items that were on the left and right ends’ shelves. And of course, the wooden molding didn’t exactly help my vision of what could be done. And then…one fine day I was almost running through Hobby Lobby and my eyes almost popped out of my head…when there was the canvas print. Suddenly, there in front of my cart was that gorgeous print with all the right height for that tall ceiling!
entertainc1_20130325_161742_670 Originally, I had semi planned to have a print hanging instead of propped up on top of the long top piece of wood. And then, I thought why put an another nail in the paneling if not absolutely necessary. Suddenly, these plate stands popped up to do the job after a few other tries leaning. Leaning would not do justice to the artist’s elements that are in that print. Hope you like the final look…until sometime another print catches my attention. entertainc3_20130325

  1. Love how you solved the decor problem. I agree that sometimes it’s when you are not really searching for the right piece that the right piece comes to you!!! You did a great job!

    • Hi Ann, It would be lovely if I were able to say that I was not in a hurry. And truly, I didn’t want to rush it; however, the top of the entertainment center remained bare for a few months. I agree with you, that piece almost jumped off the wall at me at Hobby Lobby. It helped that it was also half price that day. Thanks for the compliments. I’m looking forward to knowing you better.

  2. The vignette looks lovely! I like the height and balance that the vases bring, as well as leaning the picture. Great job!
    Happy Easter!

    • Hey Shelia, I’m glad you are liking the decor, that I struggled to locate for the top of our entertainment center. Thanks, we really did have a fun Easter. Hope y’all did, too. Helen

  5. OH, those places that are hard to decorate really do drive me insane. But I love it when one piece/idea brings it all together.
    It looks lovely!

    • Hi Tina, Yes, you’ve got that right! That wide entertainment center is the widest area, that I’ve tried to fully decorate. So glad to see you back again, Tina!!! Thanks,Helen

  6. Love the pillows, Helen!
