OK, y’all know just how close I came to having to have quotation marks in that title. OK, y’all know just how close I came to having to have quotation marks in that title. You know it really did need to say “A Tender Tennessee Christmas” just like the much loved Christmas song by the ever famous “Alabama”….who live not far from Tennessee.
The table in our breakfast area is set with Christmas dishes I located at a discount dish shop in our area. Just happened to be there at the right time. Oh! I failed to mention that was the year we had 17 here for Christmas dinner. At least I knew how many to look forward to and the 17th person was my sister, Jean’s first grandson. There’s something about a newborn baby in the house, don’t you agree? So, when I entered Deck’s (dish shop) there were these perfect dishes for everyone to enjoy if I bought 4 boxes of sets of 4. I asked for a deal on 4 boxes and got all for $90. Love that they can run through the dishwasher….no worry about metal verges. No one will get an ulcer if one is chipped or even broken. These are the fun time dishes for sure.
Here we go with adding the settings!
The name of the pattern is “Joy Of Christmas” and they have served us up lots of joy in the nearly 2 decades they have been used.
A few years ago, I was checking my fine china on Replacements online site and stumbled upon them. Imagine my surprise when the photo showed everything identical to these, but not quite. See the outer band of orange…well on the ones online that band is not orange..it’s bright red. Obviously, they were not first rate, but hey not one person had ever mentioned it…you know your best friends and family would speak up if they caught that error in paint. Lucky for me as the ones with the red band were almost as high as real fine china. And they are lovely with the Jamestown amber iced teas, that were gifts, when Bob and I were married.
Just look at old Santa!
This season, we’re planning to use these for everyday and use our Syracuse Yorktown china for Christmas dinner regardless of which day it happens to be. These have wonderful cereal bowls, salad plates, cups, and saucers…reason to be thrilled with the deal back then and now.
Notice the red and orange stripes on the runner…meant to be!
Why oh why, do I love dishes so much?
Brass reindeer had to be there!
Seeing our grandchildren’s faces as they look at the details is priceless!
Love the tree in the red sleigh!
Not very long now until the fun really begins. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas with those you love and enjoy each moment of the joy together! You can also see some new and popular Christmas decorations by clicking here.
